What AthenaHQ does

AthenaHQ monitors how AI engines mention your brand and recommends changes to your content. The free tier includes content recommendations and an AI agent. Starter adds on-page and off-page actions and a content optimization agent that AthenaHQ describes as learning from results. Enterprise adds the Athena Citation Engine, persona targeting and a knowledge base for checking claims about your brand.

Integrations listed on the pricing page include Shopify, Webflow, Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console. Enterprise adds dashboards for Tableau, Power BI and Looker.

AthenaHQ's CEO is Andrew Yan, a former Google Search product manager, and the company is based in San Francisco, according to its about page. It names Cozy Earth and Grüns among its customers.

AthenaHQ pricing in 2026

AthenaHQ sells credits. The pricing page says one credit equals one AI response.

PlanPriceCreditsEnginesNotes
EssentialFree300ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, CopilotUnlimited users; no Claude or AI Mode
Starter$295 a month3,60011 modelsUnlimited seats and role-based access; CSV export; country-level support
EnterpriseCustomCustomNot named on the pricing pageMulti-country, SSO, audit log, 2-hour support SLA, API included

The annual toggle says 17% off. The dollar amount for annual billing was not in the page text. On Starter, API access and extra credits are paid add-ons with prices on request. AthenaHQ lists no trial; the free tier is the entry point.

Starter's 11 models are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. The pricing page does not state refresh frequency or history length.

What 3,600 credits buy

A credit is one AI response, so the number of prompts you can track depends on how many engines you query and how often. Run once a day on all 11 Starter models, 3,600 credits cover about 10 prompts. Run on four engines, they cover about 30. The page gives no refresh frequency, so treat those figures as arithmetic on the stated credit count and ask AthenaHQ how often runs happen.

Peec AI lists 4,500 monthly answers on its $95 Starter plan, counted as prompts times active models times daily refreshes. The units are similar enough for a rough comparison. AthenaHQ costs $295 for 3,600, and its plan covers 11 models where Peec's plans cover three.

What AthenaHQ does well

The free Essential tier is a real way in. It covers five engines and 300 responses with unlimited users, which is enough to test a handful of prompts before spending anything.

Starter covers 11 models, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. That is a wide engine list at a published price. Unlimited topics, prompts and competitors mean the credit count is the only limit to manage, and the optimization agents sit in the same plan as the tracking.

Seats are unlimited on every plan, with role-based access on Starter.

Where AthenaHQ falls short

Credits turn into a budgeting job. You pay for responses, so a longer prompt list or more engines uses the balance faster. Extra credits cost more and the price is on request.

Claude and AI Mode need Starter. The free tier leaves both out.

Several details are not on the page. Refresh frequency, history length, the annual dollar price and the Enterprise engine list are not stated, and the API is an add-on on Starter.

Multi-country tracking is an Enterprise feature. The comparison table on the pricing page lists a single country on Starter.

Who AthenaHQ fits

AthenaHQ fits a team that wants broad engine coverage in a published plan and is willing to manage a credit balance. The free tier suits someone who wants to see the dashboard before committing, and the agency program offers discounted licences and certification to agencies.

It fits less well a team that wants a flat prompt count with a fixed bill, or one that needs several countries before an Enterprise contract.

Other tools to weigh against AthenaHQ

Peec AI charges $95, $245 or $495 a month for 50, 150 or 350 prompts on three active models, with unlimited users. See the Peec AI review.

Profound is quote-only for brands, with a free 7-day trial. See Profound vs AthenaHQ and the Profound review.

Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts and includes four engines on every plan. See the Otterly review.

SearchSeal. SearchSeal costs $79 a month for 60 questions on Starter, $179 for 150 on Pro and $399 for 400 on Max, with unlimited brands sharing one question pool. It asks every question each day on AI Overview, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and saves each answer with its mentions and returned source links. Billing follows the question count. SearchSeal does not track crawler traffic or human visits from AI tools, and a returned source link is not proof the answer used that page. See SearchSeal vs AthenaHQ. SearchSeal sells a competing product.

Is AthenaHQ worth it?

AthenaHQ is worth trying through the free tier, since it costs nothing and shows five engines. The $295 Starter plan is worth it when you need models such as Claude or Meta AI and can keep your prompt list within 3,600 responses a month. For a short, stable list of prompts on a few engines, a plan priced per prompt will cost less.

Before upgrading, ask AthenaHQ how often runs happen, what an extra credit costs and whether the annual price changes the credit count.
