How do I add llms.txt to my website?
Collect your page URLs, enter your site name and summary in SearchSeal's free llms.txt generator, then paste the URLs or page sitemap contents. Create and publish your file
- Collect the pages that matter. Gather a page sitemap or a list of the URLs you want to include, up to 500. A sitemap index is not followed, so use the contents of a page sitemap.
- Enter your site details. Open SearchSeal's free llms.txt generator and fill in your site name and summary. Use the summary to describe your site.
- Paste your pages. Paste the page sitemap contents or your URL list into the generator. Check that you included the pages you collected in the first step.
- Organize and annotate the links. Group the links into sections and add a short note to each link. Reorder the sections and links as needed, and move less important pages to Optional.
- Download and upload the file. Copy or download llms.txt from the generator. Upload it to your website so it opens at yourdomain.com/llms.txt.
- Open the file and check. Open that address, then enter a page address in the AI readiness check. Its llms.txt check carries 5 of the 100 available points.
A worked example for Northwind Scheduling
For the made-up site example.com, enter Northwind Scheduling as the site name, use “Shift scheduling software for small restaurants and clinics” as the summary, and add the pricing, setup and scheduling tips pages to the generator.

What to expect after publishing
llms.txt is a proposed plain-text format described at llmstxt.org. Few AI tools read it today, so creating the file is a low-impact fix that takes minutes. Keep that limited role in mind when deciding how much time to spend on the file.
The AI readiness check reads your page, robots.txt and llms.txt. It returns a score from 0 to 100, fixes ranked High, Medium or Low, and code you can copy. The llms.txt portion accounts for 5 points; AI crawlers account for 35 and page structure for 20. A high score does not mean an AI tool will recommend you.
Publishing the file does not establish that an AI tool read it or that a later answer changed because of it. Answers vary between runs. Even when a source link comes back with an answer, that link does not prove the answer used or cited the page.

The generator does not follow a sitemap index. Paste the contents of a page sitemap instead, or supply a list of URLs, up to 500.

Where should I put less important pages?
Move them to Optional in the generator. You can reorder sections and links, and add a short note to each link before copying or downloading the file.
Will llms.txt make AI recommend my site?
There is no promise that adding the file will make an AI tool recommend or cite your site. Few AI tools read llms.txt today, and a high AI readiness score does not establish that your brand will appear in answers.
