How to add FAQ schema to an existing page
Add FAQ schema with six steps, from choosing visible questions to testing the JSON-LD, then check the page and replace every example value before you publish.

How do I put FAQ schema on a page?
Choose 3 to 6 questions that your page already answers in visible text. Select FAQ page in the free schema generator, enter the matching questions and answers, then copy its JSON-LD into the page head. Test it with Google's rich results test and run the AI readiness check. Replace every example value before publishing.
Add and check your FAQ markup
- Choose questions already answered. Select 3 to 6 questions that the page already answers in text visitors can read. Keep the page open so you can use its wording when you fill in the generator.
- Select FAQ page. Open SearchSeal's free schema generator and choose FAQ page. Use the questions you selected from the page for the entries.
- Enter the exact wording. Type each question and its answer exactly as visitors see them on the page. Replace every example value, since empty fields fall back to example content.
- Copy the JSON-LD. Review each generated question and answer against the visible page text, then copy the JSON-LD. Include the full output, which the generator wraps for pasting into the page head.
- Paste into the page head. Add the copied output to the head of the page whose questions you entered. Keep the matching questions and answers visible in the page content.
- Test the published page. Use the generator's link to Google's rich results test, then run the AI readiness check on the page address. Review the Schema markup result, which carries 20 of the check's 100 points.
A worked FAQ example
A made-up Northwind Scheduling page answers two questions about use at a single restaurant and staff shift swaps, with those same questions and answers in its FAQ markup.
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "FAQPage",
"mainEntity": [
{
"@type": "Question",
"name": "Does Northwind Scheduling work for a single restaurant?",
"acceptedAnswer": {
"@type": "Answer",
"text": "Yes. A single location can use every feature, and a second location can be added later."
}
},
{
"@type": "Question",
"name": "Can staff swap shifts from their phones?",
"acceptedAnswer": {
"@type": "Answer",
"text": "Yes. Staff request a swap in the app and a manager approves it."
}
}
]
}
</script>
Replace every example value before publishing.
What the checks can tell you
Schema markup helps tools read the page. It does not make an AI tool quote it. The questions and answers in the markup must match what visitors can read, so compare the generated output with the visible text before you rely on the result. If you change an answer on the page, update its wording in the markup to keep them matched.
Empty generator fields fall back to example values. An entry can therefore contain text you never wrote for your page. Read every question and answer in the output, including entries you left unfinished, and replace the examples.
The AI readiness check reads the page, robots.txt and llms.txt. Schema markup carries 20 of its 100 points, and the check returns fixes ranked High, Medium or Low with code to copy. A high score does not mean AI will recommend you. Use Google's rich results test through the generator's link as part of checking your markup.
Use SearchSeal to check the page
Start with the free schema generator to create the FAQ JSON-LD, then enter the published page address in the free AI readiness check. Neither tool requires signup. Keep the visible page text beside the generated output while you review it, especially if you have edited the questions or answers during setup.
For ongoing checks, SearchSeal asks the questions you choose to AI tools every day and saves the answers with their dates. You can review whether your brand appears and which source links came back. A returned source link does not prove that the answer used or cited your FAQ page.
SearchSeal also lists ranked page fixes and compares saved answers before and after a fix. Marking a fix Done snapshots the preceding 14 days, with the after snapshot taken 14 days later. Answers vary between runs, and other changes can affect the numbers. Nothing proves that adding the markup caused a change.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put questions in the markup that visitors cannot read?
The questions and answers in the markup must match the visible page content. Choose questions the page already answers, then copy their wording into the generator so visitors and tools have the same text.
What happens if I leave generator fields empty?
Empty fields fall back to example values, so the output can contain example questions or answers. Replace them all and read the generated content against your page before you copy it into the head.
Does a high AI readiness score mean AI will quote my page?
A high score does not mean an AI tool will recommend you, and FAQ markup does not make it quote your page. Schema markup helps tools read the content and carries 20 of the check's 100 points.
Where do I paste the generated JSON-LD?
Paste the complete generated output into the head of the page that contains the matching questions and answers. The generator wraps it for that purpose. Keep the questions and answers visible to visitors in the page content.
