Similarweb vs Profound (2026)

Similarweb publishes its prices: AI Search Intelligence starts at $99 a month billed annually and includes 150 tracked prompts for one user. Profound does not: brands get a free 7-day trial and a custom Enterprise quote. Similarweb names four engines on its brand visibility tracker, while Profound lists up to nine on Enterprise. Both report mentions, citations and sentiment, and each sits beside a different kind of traffic data.

Similarweb's brand visibility tracker names ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity. Google AI Overviews is not named for it. Profound's trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its Enterprise list adds Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek and a ninth engine that its own pages name differently (Exa Search on the pricing page, Grok on the Answer Engine Insights page).

What each one is built around

Similarweb is a market and traffic intelligence company. AI Search Intelligence is its toolkit for AI answers, with AI Brand Visibility for mentions, citations and sentiment and AI Traffic for referral visits. The $333 plan adds SEO tools (keyword research, rank tracking, site audit, backlinks) and competitive data (traffic, channels, demographics, rival alerts). The $542 plan adds ad intelligence.

Profound is built around answer research and marketing agents. Its pieces are Answer Engine Insights, Prompt Volumes, Agent Analytics and an AI Marketer that runs on credits. Its Answer Engine Insights page says it collects answers from the consumer browser experience of each engine, in more than 30 languages and over 150 regions, with prompts run daily.

If you already pay Similarweb for competitor traffic, the AI plan adds to a tool your team knows. If AI answers are the whole job, Profound is the more focused product, at the price of a sales call.

Price: published against quoted

The cheapest Similarweb plan works out to about $0.66 per tracked prompt a month on annual billing. The $333 and $542 plans keep the same 150 prompts, so the extra money buys the SEO, competitive and ad modules and a longer history. The prompt count stays at 150. Each plan has one user. Annual billing on the self-serve plan is switched on through support, according to Similarweb's FAQ.

Profound shows no dollar figure for brands. The free trial is the only published tier, and exports, API access, history and support sit in Enterprise. Profound also lists a self-serve Agency Growth plan with 400 credits a month per client workspace, with no price on the pages read.

A team that needs a number for finance gets one from Similarweb. A team with a security review and an enterprise budget will talk to Profound's sales team either way.

Engines, prompts and history

Similarweb gives every self-serve plan the same 150 prompts, and it shows the top 30 brands per tracked topic with share of voice, sentiment and citation breakdowns. Similarweb says data is available within an hour of setup and updates daily. History is 3 months on the $99 plan and 6 months above it.

Profound's pricing page lists the trial as 50 prompts from a recommended set that you cannot customize, with one language, one region, no history and no exports. Enterprise lifts those limits: custom languages and regions, all-time history, CSV and JSON export, the API and ChatGPT Shopping. Prompt counts for Enterprise are set in the quote, so ask for a number that matches your panel across nine engines.

If Google AI Overviews matters to you, only Profound names it in the plans read for this comparison.

Traffic data and agent data

Similarweb's AI Traffic measures referral visits from AI chatbots to your site and to competitor sites. Those are estimates for sites you do not own, which is the point of a market tool.

Profound's Agent Analytics reads your own server and CDN logs, with no JavaScript tag, to show which bots fetched which pages. Its integrations include Akamai, AWS, Cloudflare, Fastly, Google Cloud, Netlify, Vercel and WordPress.

These answer different questions. One asks how many visits chatbots sent to a site. The other asks which bots fetched your pages.

When to choose Similarweb

Choose Similarweb when you want a published price, competitor traffic and AI answer tracking from one vendor, and one or two people will use it. It fits a marketer who already benchmarks rivals in Similarweb and wants AI visibility beside that data.

Check the one-user limit, the missing Copilot and AI Overviews coverage on the brand tracker and the trial terms, which the pages read do not state.

When to choose Profound

Choose Profound when your organization buys through a demo and wants answer tracking, prompt volume estimates, log-based agent analytics and marketing workflows from one vendor, with SSO and a support SLA. It also suits a team that needs more engines than Similarweb's four, such as Copilot, Claude and AI Overviews together.

Use the free trial to see the interface, and ask for a quote that names your prompt count, engines, regions and credit allowance.

A third option: SearchSeal

SearchSeal sells a competing product. SearchSeal costs $79 a month for 60 questions on Starter, $179 for 150 on Pro and $399 for 400 on Max, with unlimited brands sharing one question pool. It asks every question each day on AI Overview, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and saves each answer with its mentions and returned source links. It also reads Search Console and Bing Webmaster data and turns answers into ranked page fixes, with before and after comparisons.

It gives up some of what the others offer. SearchSeal does not track crawler traffic or human visits from AI tools, and a returned source link is not proof the answer used that page. It has no market traffic estimates for other sites. Choose it when you want a published price and one owner working through page fixes.
