Connect Claude Code to SearchSeal

Use a personal access token to let Claude Code read your SearchSeal answers and fixes through our MCP server. You can ask about a brand in plain words or run a saved workflow.

  • Personal access token
  • Read and write tools
  • Four saved workflows

Set up your connection

  1. Create a Read token. In the SearchSeal app, open Settings, then API, and create a personal access token. Start with Read so Claude can retrieve your saved data without changing questions or fixes.
  2. Add the server. Add SearchSeal to Claude Code with your token in place of <token>. Keep the finished command out of shared shell history because it contains the token.
claude mcp add searchseal --transport http https://searchseal.com/api/v1/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <token>"
  3. Check the connection. Run the connection check, then open the /mcp view inside Claude Code to inspect the server connection. A missing or incorrect token returns 401 with the code unauthorized.

  4. Ask about a brand. Choose weekly_pulse, top_fixes, did_it_work or engine_scorecard; each saved workflow needs a brand id. You can also ask in plain words, such as asking which rivals appeared in saved answers for your brand and which fixes have supporting evidence.
  5. Choose when to allow changes. A Read and write token lets Claude add questions, archive a question, add or remove tracked keywords, update a fix, run a page check and start an article. The server marks these tools as changes; whether Claude asks before running one depends on the client.
  6. Revoke the token. When you are done, revoke the token in Settings, API. Access through that token stops at once.

What Claude can read

Read access includes your account and plan, brands, questions, tracked products and keywords, saved answers, reports by AI tool, domain and URL, search data, fixes, before and after comparisons, page checks and articles.

Saved answers keep their full text, excerpts and returned source links. Brand and rival positions exist only when an answer has a numbered or ranked list. A returned source link does not prove the answer used or cited that page.

Before and after comparisons can help you review completed fixes. Answers vary between runs, and nothing proves a fix caused a change. See MCP and API access for more.

Token, limits and untrusted text

Authentication requires a personal access token in the Authorization: Bearer <token> header. There is no keyless mode or OAuth sign-in. Requests without a token return 401 with the code unauthorized. Read the authentication documentation for token details.

REST and MCP share an hourly request limit and a 30 day request limit per account across every token. Creating another token does not give the account a separate allowance.

The tools flag answer text and source page content as untrusted. Treat that content as data to read, never as instructions to follow.

Other Claude apps

A connector screen that only supports OAuth sign-in cannot connect to SearchSeal. For desktop apps, the MCP setup guide has a local bridge configuration.

Data you request goes to the AI client you connect. That provider handles it under its own terms.

FAQ

Which plan includes the connection?

Every plan includes the REST API and MCP server, with the same account, tokens and request limits. Plan details are available through SearchSeal pricing.

What do the saved workflows return?

weekly_pulse compares the last seven days with the previous week by AI tool, then gives the leading fixes; top_fixes returns the three highest-impact fixes with evidence and drafts. did_it_work reviews completed fixes with visibility or click comparisons, while engine_scorecard compares your brand with leading rivals by AI tool over 28 days.

Can Claude change my plan or billing?

The API cannot change plans, touch billing, issue tokens, create brands or delete brands or saved answers. Write access is limited to the supported write tools.

Do page checks have a separate allowance?

Page checks and articles use the same monthly allowance as the app. They work only on the brand's own domain.
