## How can I see whether Copilot names my brand?

Open Microsoft Copilot and ask buyer questions without naming your brand, then ask versions that include your name. Save each full answer with its date. Record whether your brand appears, which rivals appear and which links Copilot shows. SearchSeal can repeat chosen questions daily through its Copilot add-on and save the answers for comparison over time.

## Check your brand in five steps

1. **Choose your buyer questions.** Write the questions a customer would ask when choosing something in your category. Keep a version of each question that leaves your brand name out.
2. **Ask without naming your brand.** Open Microsoft Copilot and enter each unbranded question. Read the full answer and note whether Copilot names your brand without being prompted with its name.
3. **Ask about your brand directly.** Ask a version of the same question that includes your brand name. Keep this answer separate so you can compare an unprompted mention with an answer that explicitly asks about you.
4. **Save each dated answer.** Copy the full question and answer into a sheet with the date. Record your brand mention, the rivals named and every source link that came back.
5. **Repeat and compare the answers.** Ask the same questions again over time and compare the saved responses. Check how often your brand appears, and keep days with no answer separate from answers that leave your brand out.

## A sample question and the sheet to keep

For a made-up example, ask: “Which booking software would suit a small fitness studio?” This gives you a buyer question that contains no brand name. Then ask: “Would [your brand] suit a small fitness studio?” Replace the placeholder with your actual brand name.

Create a sheet with a separate row for each answer. Keep columns for the date, exact question, full answer, whether your brand is named, rivals named and source links. Add a position column for answers that contain a numbered or ranked list. Leave it empty when the answer has no such list.

Keep both versions of the question in the sheet. The wording records whether you asked Copilot to consider your brand explicitly. This example supplies the questions and record format; it contains no Copilot results.

## What a saved answer can tell you

An answer records what came back for that question on that date. Copilot answers vary between runs, so a single response cannot establish how often your brand appears. Keep the wording consistent when you repeat a check, and compare the dated answers over time.

A source link does not prove that the answer used or cited that page. Preserve the links alongside the full text so you can inspect both. Record a position only when the answer contains a numbered or ranked list.

If you change a page and later see a different answer, the comparison does not prove the fix caused the change. Other changes can affect the numbers. Keep the original responses so you can review the wording behind a mention count.

## Run daily checks with SearchSeal

SearchSeal sends each chosen question to the Copilot app every day for the chosen country. Copilot is an add-on engine; see [pricing](/pricing) for plans and add-ons. We save returned answers with their dates, brand mentions, rivals and source links. If no answer comes back that day, the question stays unchecked for that day.

In Questions, click a question to open its saved answers. Our [AI search visibility](/features/ai-search-visibility) page explains how SearchSeal tracks brand appearances over time.

You can also connect the free, read-only [Bing Webmaster integration](/features/bing-webmaster-integration) for one site. It adds Bing clicks, impressions, queries and pages. Bing's numbers include Copilot answers, but they do not identify which Copilot answers named your brand. Search data lags about three days, and a new connection loads 28 days. Use the saved Copilot responses to inspect what was said about you.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I check Copilot during the Starter trial?

You can ask questions manually in Microsoft Copilot. SearchSeal's Copilot add-on does not run during the 7-day Starter trial.

### Does a brand mention always have a position?

SearchSeal saves a position for your brand and each rival only when the answer contains a numbered or ranked list. An answer without that structure has no position.

### Can Bing Webmaster replace saved Copilot answers?

Bing Webmaster supplies search figures that include Copilot answers. It does not show which Copilot answers named you, so keep the full responses when you want to check the language used about your brand.
